Welcome to the beginning of your wellness journey! True health starts with the basics—and often, it’s about removing the things that block your body from functioning the way it was designed to.
In this post, I’m sharing the most important foundational steps to holistic health. These are the low-hanging fruit—the things that create the biggest shifts when addressed first.

Start with the Basics: Air, Food, and Water
-
Air: Mold exposure can wreak havoc on your immune system and create chronic inflammation. If you suspect mold in your environment, take it seriously.
-
Water: Your body is over 70% water. Invest in a good water filter—one that removes heavy metals, chlorine, pesticides, and other contaminants.
-
Food: Your cells need real nourishment. Choose organic when possible and eat whole foods that are as close to nature as possible. Every bite is either fueling healing or inflammation.

Drainage: The Body’s Detox Funnel
Detox is popular, but without proper drainage, you’re just stirring up toxins with nowhere for them to go. Drainage is the foundation—think of it like a funnel. If the bottom is clogged, everything backs up.
-
Level 1: Bowel Movements
Daily elimination is key. According to Chinese medicine, you should be having as many bowel movements as meals each day. If you’re eating three meals and only going once, your drainage is already backed up. -
Level 2: Liver & Gallbladder
Your liver filters all of your blood every 5 minutes. It processes toxins, hormones, and more. If it's congested, toxins recirculate in your system, adding to the burden. -
Level 3: Lymphatic System
Your lymph doesn’t have a pump like your heart. It moves when you move. Rebounding, dry brushing, sauna, and walking all help move stagnant lymph and release stored toxins. -
Level 4: Organs
If the lower parts of the funnel are slow, your organs—like your kidneys, lungs, and skin—begin to struggle. You may see this as fatigue, breakouts, or brain fog. -
Level 5: Cellular Drainage
When toxins get trapped and your drainage is blocked, your cells become sluggish. This affects everything from your metabolism to your energy levels and mood.

Nervous System Regulation: The Healing Switch
You cannot heal if your body thinks it’s in danger.
If you’re stuck in fight-or-flight mode (sympathetic dominance), your digestion slows, your immune system weakens, and your body focuses on survival—not healing.
Regulating your nervous system through breathwork, grounding, nature, and gentle movement can help shift your body into rest-and-digest (parasympathetic state), where healing happens.
“Neuromuscular testing has been a key part of my healing journey since I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus. I’ve now been in remission for 18 years—and I credit the NMT program for helping me stay healthy without needing extra medications. At 74, I feel fabulous, whole, and truly alive!”
